Mass Customized Detroit Urban Homesteading
Graduate School Thesis #1
Lawrence Technological University Masters of Architecture, 2012
The vehicle by which McDUH operates is through the conversion of disused small neighborhood support/service buildings (ie. auto repair garages, et al) into multifunction homesteading edifices Specifically, the McDUH system consists of a template to analyze existing materiality/ formal conditions, determines the ideal corresponding programmatic uses as converted urban homestead components, and assigns the appropriate digitally fabricated ‘kit-of-parts’ typology to accomplish this adaptation.
Detroit Homsteading- A lifestyle movement toward increased individual and community autonomy through the improved interconnection between
self, place, livelihood, and production.
